Some research shows that cell phones can carry an obscene amount of bacteria. Due to the pandemic, people may also worry about viruses that might be present on phone screens. Yet, people may not like setting their phones aside for long for sanitizing, except when they are also being charged. The company Lexon developed a wireless charger, Oblio, which has a vase-like shape. A phone put inside it can be fully charged in 3 hours. The front interior of the charger has a UV-C LED that destroys the DNA of microorganisms and disinfects a phone surface. Lab testing shows that 99.9% of viruses, including H1N1, can be killed in 20 minutes. To sanitize both sides of a phone, it should be flipped after 20 min. There is a LED indicator confirming correct positioning and charging status.
