Since an average person spends about one third of the life sleeping, it is natural that sleep quality has a big impact on one’s health. Yet, people have surprisingly little monitoring and control of their sleep. The company called Eight Sleep created a smart Mattress, Pod, which tracks sleep phases, respiratory rate, and heart rate. Using water channels inside, the mattress controls its temperature based on these biometric feedback to improve the quality of sleep. The tracking and temperature control can be done for two people in the same bed such that two sides of the mattress may have different temperature. The mattress also tracks room temperature and humidity to enhance its performance. Pod also comes with a mobile app that allows remote temperature setting and generates sleep reports and insights.
