For people involved in online dating, the process can be romantic, exciting, and frustrating at the same time. You are often on your own with no help or advice. What if there is a personal assistant who talks with you through the matchmaking process? Or as the company AIMM says, find love through AI. The company founder, Kevin Teman, believes that AI can bring much to the life-changing experience of matchmaking. The mobile app makes conversation with you, learns your preferences in many domains (such as your dream home), recognizes your emotions (through camera or voice) and personalities, builds your profile, walks you through picture stories, lets you hear potential matches’ voice, makes matches and sets up your phone calls. In addition, the AI gives you advice on phone calls and dates, and even feedback. For example, if the AI, through conversations, learns that the romantic interest is not mutual, the app might subtly suggest you to “move on”. To further improve the user experience, AIMM will include the option to be paired with a human agent for more help.
Another company, the Match Group partnered with Google to create a dating advice voice chatbot called Lara. Lara, which requires a Google Home device and the Match app, shows one profile a day and, after detecting mutual interest, suggest where to meet and how to plan dates.
